This Code sets out the principles governing the editorial work of ORA NEWS on news content broadcast on television and published on its official website and digital platforms. It applies to journalists, editors, editorial managers and contributors in the performance of their duties.
Article 2
Editorial principles
ORA NEWS is guided by accuracy, editorial independence, impartiality, pluralism, the public interest and respect for human rights. The newsroom distinguishes verified facts from claims and opinions. It does not create false balance between documented evidence and unsupported claims.
Article 3
News selection
News is selected according to its timeliness, its relevance to the public, its impact on society and the reliability of the information. Headlines and announcements must match the content, without exaggeration or unsupported conclusions. Political, personal and commercial interests do not determine editorial selection.
Article 4
Breaking news and live reporting
In keeping with its identity as “First with the latest news”, ORA NEWS reports quickly, but accuracy remains the priority. Preliminary information is identified as such; confirmed facts are kept separate from those still being verified. As events develop, the newsroom updates information and corrects inaccuracies without delay.
Article 5
Verification of facts and sources
Wherever possible, information is checked against documents, direct sources and independent confirmation. Statements and claims are clearly attributed to their authors. Anonymous sources are used only when confidentiality is justified, and the information they provide is subject to careful editorial assessment.
Article 6
Audiovisual material and social media
Before use, photos, videos and content taken from social media are assessed for authenticity, origin, timing and context. Archive footage is labelled where it could be confused with the current event. Manipulated or AI-generated content is not presented as genuine documentation.
Article 7
Impartiality and the right to respond
On matters of public interest, ORA NEWS seeks to reflect the relevant positions fairly. People facing serious allegations are asked to respond whenever circumstances allow. If no response is obtained, this may be stated in the coverage, and any later response is reported according to its significance.
Article 8
Distinguishing news from opinion and advertising
News, analysis, commentary and advertising content are clearly distinguished. Sponsored content is clearly labelled. Journalists and editorial managers avoid conflicts of interest that could undermine the credibility of their reporting.
Article 9
Dignity, privacy and justice
Reporting respects human dignity, privacy, the protection of minors and the presumption of innocence. Publishing identities or sensitive images is weighed against the public interest and the impact on the people affected. In judicial matters, a distinction is drawn between investigation, charges and final rulings.
Article 10
Responsibility and review
Implementation of the Code is overseen by editorial management. Complex cases receive dedicated editorial and, where necessary, legal assessment. The Code is reviewed periodically and applies once approved by the competent body of ORA NEWS.
